Musique - In The Bush (1978/ No. 16/ 12 weeks/ CBS)

(sung breathily)

Are you ready?
Are you ready for this?
Do you like it?
Do you like it like this?
Are you ready?
Are you ready for this?
Do you like it?
Do you like it like this?

Push, push in the bush!
Push, push in the bush!
Push, push in the bush!
Push, push in the bush!

(then belting, diva-style)

HWI LIKE TO DO IT DOO IT!

"I say, you don't suppose that by any chance this song could refer to sexual intercourse at all, could it?" Peter Cook, 1965

This is not a single which holds much cachet amongst disco purists. Very much a studio project, producer and songwriter Patrick Adams got together some crack session-men for a limited amount of studio time, arranging certain parts on the hoof as he went along. Four singers, one of whom is Jocelyn Brown, were hired to pant the lyrics. This song is so blatant in its commands that you even really described it as innuendo.

With that background, its surprising that every effect is achieved so well here. It's not a very bassy song, the dancing listener led along by an electric piano, tom toms, a choppy rhythm guitar and occasional brass. It really is sexy and fun.
