Some stray thoughts; mostly pop and old British television drama, bits of memoir perhaps.

The Doctor Who Reading List Part 5
(This list wouldn't have been possible without the thing of wonder that is Tat Wood and Lawrence Miles' About Time: The Unauthorised Guide To Doctor Who and Paul Cornell, Martin Day and Keith Topping's Doctor Who: The Discontinuity Guide)
It was hardest thinking of any kind of literary antecedent for the works of Eric Saward. The best that The Discontinuity Guide can come up with for Resurrection of the Daleks is "War movies, Alien, Star Wars", which isn't exactly an imaginative spectrum of reference.
